Madiba – In Memoriam

(by William Earnest Henley)

Out of the night that covers me,
Black as the Pit from pole to pole,
I thank whatever gods may be
For my unconquerable soul.

In the fell clutch of circumstance
I have not winced nor cried aloud,
Under the bludgeoning of chance
My head is bloody, but unbowed.

Beyond this place of wrath and tears
Looms but the horror of the shade,
And yet the menace of the years
Finds, and shall find me, unafraid.

It matters not how strait the gate,
How charged with punishments the scroll,
I am the master of my fate:
I am the captain of my soul.

  1. Madiba/Nelson continuará como um farol para (e da) humanidade

  2. I am changed and I wonder why he was sentenced a martyr’s life for trying to make the dream of equality come true. I hear the cries of joy as the racist apartheid regime fall. I see the glowing face of Mr. Mandela after 46 years of racism gone because of him. I want to re-live through that moment in time. To know this prophet, son of mankind, the human condition. I am forever changed by Nelson Rolihlahla Mandela .
