Mustafah Abdulaziz

Mustafah Abdulaziz é um jovem fotógrafo americano (n. New York City, 1986) que tem vindo a captar a atençāo dos círculos internacionais da fotografia documentária.

Com um estilo marcado e um processo criativo muito particular, aqui descrito pelo próprio, os critérios técnicos nāo são, seguramente, a prioridade primeira para Mustafah.

As imagens impõem-se pelo conteúdo documental, em séries coerentes – aqui ficam algumas imagens da série Water Scarcity – mais do que pela perfeição técnica ou, até, plástica. Depois, o “look” Polaroid, certamente trabalhado, faz o resto.

Worked as the first contract photographer for The Wall Street Journal. Has been published in The New York Times, Monocle, Newsweek, Le Monde, NPR, Mother Jones, National Geographic Poland, Outside Magazine, Financial Times, The New Yorker, Telegraph Magazine, The Guardian, Fader Magazine, VICE Germany. In 2012, he was named one of PDN’s 30 Emerging Photographers to Watch.

Water (2012-2018) is photographic typology of a natural resource in crisis. Structured into chapters, the project reflects on our relationship with water, how we use and misuse it, to ultimately understand our place within one of the greatest challenges of our time. This on-going project, spanning water issues from 32 countries, has received grants from the Pulitzer Center on Crisis Reporting, commissions from the United Nations and WaterAid.
